My name is Kelsey Merreck Wagner, and I am an elephant-obsessed artist, community organizer and environmental activist.
I am a printmaker, painter, and textile artist--often all at once. I usually begin by making large monoprints, which I paint, embroider and draw on before sewing and weaving them together into paper sculptures.
My visual work and research explores how local expertise, sustainable development, and community-based natural resource management can mitigate elephant population decline; making the world better not just for elephants, but for the humans who live with them. But I am not only into elephants--some of my work honors other animals as well--oysters, bats, birds and dolphins to name a few!
I am available for commissions, murals, installations, exhibit opportunities, workshops and lectures.
