Plastic Project:

The Southern

River Terrapin

Media: recycled plastic bottles and house paint

2017

This installation was co-created by high school and university students in Siem Reap, Cambodia as part of World Wildlife Day. Participants engaged in a trash clean-up of the Siem Reap river, followed by the sorting and disposal of trash and recycling of aluminum cans and glass bottles; plastic bottles were washed and then painted various colors to use for the installation. Participants created a Southern river terrapin (Batagur affinis) installation which was filmed via drone photography and edited to create a video shared on YouTube and social media.
