media: weavings made from plastic bags and recycled materials
year: 2026
This work is part of my woven weaving series, and is made up of 72 individual weavings arranged in a twill pattern from G.H. Oelsner’s book, a handbook of weaves. it took me 3 months to make the woven pieces; each of the blue and white weavings were made five at a time in multiple colors of 35’ warp. the weft is made from recycled materials including plastic bags, clothes, housewares, wires, and holiday decorations. once the pieces were completed, i cut the pattern into strips and transcribed each row (over two, under four, over three…) and wove the pieces together similar to a paper weaving format.
